The NSCN Service is addressed to Telecommunications Service Providers holding a relevant license issued by the Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission allowing them to provide Internet access through the PSTN or ISDN network.
Internet access is achieved by using the NSCN (National Single Call Number) or the RCN (Regional Call Number) provided by OTE.
CONDITIONS FOR PROVIDING AN NSCN/RCN
A Telecommunications Service Provider should:
- Provide Internet services based on a relevant license issued by the Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission
- Have nodes in the 7 major OTE centers (Athens, Thessalonica, Kavala, Larisa, Patras, Tripolis and Herakleion) for the provision of an NSCN, or a node in any other city of Greece for the provision of an RCN.
- Have a leased network (preferably PRI’s lines) from OTE for interconnecting its node to the OTE telecommunications network.
- Submit a relevant application form to the competent OTE agency.
An NSCN/RCN takes the following forms: 8962 5 XXZXX or 8962 4 XXZXX.
In both forms, in addition to the basic number provided, a Provider can file a request for assigning different values to Z so that the Provider can be able to have different designations for the various services offered to its clients.
So far, the NSCN/RCN service has been provided by OTE to Providers free of charge.
PSTN/ISDN subscribers making calls to Providers by dialing the NSCN/RCN are charged in accordance with the current OTE price list.
There are two different charges: a daytime charge (08.00 - 22.00) and a nighttime charge (22.00 - 08.00)
Any calls made by PSTN/ISDN subscribers by dialing the NSCN/RCN, if addressed to the Provider’s HELP DESK, are charged in accordance with the current landline telephony price list and not in accordance with the Internet access price list.
