The Local Loop Unbundling (LLU) Services enable the utilization of the copper subscriber network and facilities of OTE for the provision of telecommunication services to end users. The use of the Local Loop provides a Telecommunications Service Provider with easy access to the OTE network, while at the same time taking advantages of opportunities for developing new technological services made possible thanks to the release of telecommunications.
Local Loop leasing enables a Telecommunications Service Provider to use and take advantage of the OTE copper subscriber network. A Provider can choose either of the two following types of Local Loop Services:
- Full Local Loop Unbundling:
It enables a Telecommunications Service Provider to fully utilize the copper cable of OTE for providing telephony and data transmission services. - Shared Local Loop Unbundling:
A Telecommunications Service Provider will utilize the OTE copper cable for transmitting data to a subscriber, whereas OTE continues to provide telephony services.
Advantages: - Ability to develop and provide new products – new technology (e.g. xDSL, double play and triple play services).
- Network maintenance is done by OTE without any additional operating costs.
- Access to the entire OTE network, all over Greece.
- Low access cost.
- Providing subscribers with a connection, while they maintain their existing telephone number (CLI).
