From Copper to Fiber Optics

Stop Selling FTTC: Starting from September 2025, the gradual discontinuation of new FTTC (VPU light) service activations will begin in selected Local Exchanges. This applies to service requests for buildings that are already connected to the FTTH network.

Copper Switch-off: Starting from October 2025, the gradual discontinuation of new copper-based services (LLU, VPU light) will begin in Local Exchanges that meet the criteria set out in EETT’s Regulation on the Specialization and Monitoring of the Copper Switch-off and FTTH Measures.

As of May 18th, 2023, OTE offers the new symmetric access services SVC & SVO for data transmission, utilizing FTTC and FTTH networks, within the framework of the wholesale leased lines market.

The new services are available in the following symmetric bandwidths (up/down):

SVC: up to 25, 50 and 100 Mbps

SVO: 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 Mbps

The SVC & SVO services are available through the WEPL Information System, which also supports their fault management.

As of June 1st, 2022, it is possible to commit Ethernet circuits up to 1 Gbps for a period of 36 months, in accordance with the detailed pricing tables included in the updated wholesale price list

On March 24th, 2021, the Government Gazette was issued (EETT Decision 982/2/1-3-2021) regarding the “OTE Wholesale Local Access Reference Offer”, covering LLU, SubLLU, VPU, VPU Light, and Co-location services.

The main changes introduced by this decision concern the new procedure for providing LLU and VPU Light services using inactive lines, as well as the corresponding efficiency indicators for services utilizing inactive lines.
